Abstract

This study aims to highlight the most basic elements addressed by the successful global models of green universities in activating the green economy and achieving comprehensive development, the study showed that the university is an essential tool for raising awareness and planting positive thought and establishing interest in the environmental aspect, and the study found that sustainable development is a continuous long-term development of society aimed at meeting the need of humanity now and in the future through the rational use of natural resources and renewal, and the preservation of land for future generations, and that the Green University is an educational institution. It meets its need for natural resources, such as energy, water and materials, without compromising the ability of people in other countries as well as future generations to meet their own needs, and has also found that leading green universities are working to achieve sustainability by focusing on several key areas such as sustainable energy and collection (procurement), waste management and transportation, water... In the end, the study recommended that Algerian universities should be urged to adopt the content of the concept of green university and apply it because it has an effective role in preserving the environment Natural resources and the building of sustainable economies, as well as the need to focus on the most fundamental elements addressed by the successful global models of green universities in activating the green economy and achieving comprehensive development, and trying to apply them to the reality for Algerian universities.
